About Absurd Bird Spitalfields

Have you heard of the Absurd Bird, conferred with a foodie nerd or overheard of it being referred? The distinctly monikered eatery serving up Deep South inspired cuisine has some mouthwatering grub that’s likely to linger as long in the memory as its memorable name. With a predictable focus on chicken dishes, including intimidatingly stacked chicken burgers to it’s ‘xtreem’ hot wings, Absurd Bird has also developed a clucking good rep for its creative cocktails and indulgent desserts. Split across two levels, this funky Shoreditch hideout prides itself on its American-style portion control as well its squawking great atmosphere and raucous bottomless brunches. There’s even vegan sliders and meatless burgers so the veggies and vegans can get in on the fun too. Nab some great savings at the Absurd Bird today with Dines.

Quirky decor, interesting cocktail menu and tasty comfort food is slightly betrayed by long wait times. I went with a group of 12 and we were seated together very well. Even though the place was nearly empty, drinks took ages and sometimes didn't arrive and we frequently had to get up and remind the staff. We were possibly charged for drinks that never arrived too. However, all the chicken dishes are spot on tasty! Mac and cheese balls are lovely and Mr Kim's wings are a must. So, you will find great food here, but be prepared to wait or have to remind staff about orders.

Visited to try the fried chicken and waffles. I did also order their spicy fries which turned out too spicy for my taste but the main dish was great and did not disappoint. Having a look at their menu I'm tempted to visit in a group and order their bucket items. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. I visited on a Sunday noon and the combination of dimmed lights and uplifting music served for a great setting.

A warm and welcoming place to eat fried chicken in Brick Lane. I enjoyed the AB waffles which are served with maple syrup and gravy on the side for both a sweet and savoury option. The chicken is crispy and succulent and the waffles were very pleasant and reminiscent of the soft part of a homemade Yorkshire pudding! The service is friendly and efficient and we enjoyed the live music.

We had a lovely time here and the staff were lovely. We came for bottomless brunch. We were quite a large party so we had the basement reserved for just us which was nice. It was a bit dingy though with a musty smell but they had a quirky bathtub ball pit. But the balls smelled like they have never been cleaned so I was out of it as quickly as I went into it! The brunch food was good but the drinks menu was limited to beer, hooch and prosecco. The food was awesome. I finished my mains and wanted some more as it was so good. The sweet potato fries were crispy and tasty and the absurd waffles with eggs Benedict was lush. I would definitely come back for the food and maybe stay upstairs where there is more light! Definitely a good experience overall and the hostess was lovely and accommodating of a loud raucous group!
