About Le Mercury
Having built up a loyal following over the last three decades, French bistro Le Mercury is still delighting diners in Islington as it nears its fourth decade. It’s rare that you find such carefully prepared French-inspired food at such affordable prices, but then there’s a reason why this romantic neighbourhood spot has garnered rave reviews over the years. With a loyal head chef who has overseen the menu for over a decade, Le Mercury oozes familiarity with their friendly staff and time-worn classics all as comforting as an old pair of slippers. It’s fair to say that once you’ve sampled the delights on offer, you’re guaranteed to be dipping your toe again and again.

I'm a return visitor (many times over) to this cozy French restaurant due to the great food served by friendly and welcoming staff. The added touch of candles and music add to the intimate atmosphere of this venue. Very reasonable prices for the quality of the food, great presentation and efficient service even during busy times. Its always nice to eat here and I would always recommend it to others, especially the duck.

Great food! Service could have been better... a little dated. However food outweighs all the cons! Reasonably priced.

The atmosphere is nice and this place is relatively cheap for what it is but unfortunately the quality of the ingredients and cooking reflects that. If you want more atmosphere than good cooking come here. If you want good food, don’t. Our mussels were cold, prawns were too breaded and served with some sad spinach leaves in a poor dressing. The potato gratin was made from either frozen or days ago. Staff were apologetic but never checked back in with us at any point.

First time there in 10 years and a bit disappointed. Food was OK but the main problem is the brisk, impersonal service. Either I've changed or the restaurant has, but nowadays I expect waitstaff to have the time to be nice to you and to actually look after you a bit.

We discovered Le Mercury through the money-saving Dines app and were both v pleased that this restaurant has signed up. We both opted for the same dish (chicken with green beans & dauphinoise potato) and were blown away by how flavourful it was. We’ll definitely try out the rest of the menu!! The restaurant is a bit basic in terms of decor, but the setting is intimate. We saved 20% on our meal through using the Dines app & got a further £5 off by using the sign up code HX4RP. Def one to add to our list of places to eat out at!!
