About Le Mercury
Having built up a loyal following over the last three decades, French bistro Le Mercury is still delighting diners in Islington as it nears its fourth decade.
It’s rare that you find such carefully prepared French-inspired food at such affordable prices, but then there’s a reason why this romantic neighbourhood spot has garnered rave reviews over the years.
With a loyal head chef who has overseen the menu for over a decade, Le Mercury oozes familiarity with their friendly staff and time-worn classics all as comforting as an old pair of slippers. It’s fair to say that once you’ve sampled the delights on offer, you’re guaranteed to be dipping your toe again and again.

The atmosphere is nice and this place is relatively cheap for what it is but unfortunately the quality of the ingredients and cooking reflects that. If you want more atmosphere than good cooking come here. If you want good food, don’t. Our mussels were cold, prawns were too breaded and served with some sad spinach leaves in a poor dressing. The potato gratin was made from either frozen or days ago. Staff were apologetic but never checked back in with us at any point.

What a place. Situated half way along Upper Street, it's about a 10 minute walk from Angel tube. Well worth it though. It's a great little restaurant. Decked out in candles, the only light in the place is dim, but perfect for the atmosphere it creates, which is warm and welcoming. The food is excellent French cuisine, at incredibly reasonable prices. We both had a three course meal, including a bottle wine from the a la carte menu and paid a little under £90. Superb value for money for such lovely food. Although we'd have been happy to pay much more, such was the quality on offer. We will definitely be going back to try the other dishes on the menu. Both the lamb neck and the duck dishes were exceptional. A hidden gem of a restaurant. Well worth a visit.

Food was fantastic and is very reasonably priced for this part of London! Had some of the best Calamari I've ever tasted as a starter. Highly recommend the rib-eye steak, duck and pork belly as main options.

My favourite restaurant in London. Far from pretentious and expensive. Steak fresh and delicious, Duck succulent and customer service 10/10. Amazing atmosphere. There is a reason why they have a loyal following.

Really nice French food from a very unexpected place. Great for dinner as they turn some candles on and the place gets this romantic old restaurant vibe. Prices are good and menu is varied. I love that all the starters and mains are the same price - very easy to get your way through the menu.
