About Llerena

There’s been a flood of cracking tapas bars in London this past decade but few can boast an experienced Andalucian chef like Llerena in Islington. Hailing from scorching Malaga, the Central London Iberian favourite’s chef has over 10 years’ experience back in his homeland and has assembled a mindboggling array of stunningly authentic Spanish small plates. Come rain or shine this cosy eatery is always serving up shiny happy plates of food all hailing from Extremadura in the west of Spain. With specialities as rugged and rustic as the region they hail from, this cosy cantina has been attracting a legion of loyal diners (not to mention awards!) in the short time it has been operating.

Cute Tapas place with mostly counter-seating. It was refreshingly quiet when we went there. The dishes took a while to prepare but they were very good!

A lovely tapas place in Angel! We visited on a Wednesday night & the place was really quiet! Besides the fantastic drinks and tomate bread we ordered, we were delighted by the presence of a guy playing some Flamenco music! So lovely! I'd totally recommend visiting when around Angel!

Little shocked it has 4.6 stars. My partner and I were underwhelmed with the food. We started on a high, getting the mix board and pardon peppers but it quickly went downhill when we ordered the fried aubergines (fried in pancake batter and drenched in honey) as well as the chef choice meat entree- it was a bean and black pudding dish. It was fairly watery and didn’t feel like a well thought out dish. We also ordered the salt cod and it tasted like frozen hash browns defrosted and mixed with eggs. I’m most likely being harsh but I was really looking forward to this place. Will probably not come back as there are plenty other tapas places london, just upsetting that 3/4 dishes were bad and we didn’t even finish them. Unfortunately we left unsatisfied. For reference service is good and price is great, but you get what you pay for I suppose. Hopefully they rework some things on the menu!

Great Christmas dinner! We went to try their Christmas menu and it was amazing. Beautiful selection of tapas to share. Torta cheese and charcuterie my favourites. We'll see you again!

An absolutely amazing meal! The service and the food was something to rave about. Recommend the cold meats and cheese plate as well as their pork cheek dish with potatoes. Authentic beautiful pairings with food from the Spanish area. 10/10
