There’s been a flood of cracking tapas bars in London this past decade but few can boast an experienced Andalucian chef like Llerena in Islington. Hailing from scorching Malaga, the Central London Iberian favourite’s chef has over 10 years’ experience back in his homeland and has assembled a mindboggling array of stunningly authentic Spanish small plates. Come rain or shine this cosy eatery is always serving up shiny happy plates of food all hailing from Extremadura in the west of Spain. With specialities as rugged and rustic as the region they hail from, this cosy cantina has been attracting a legion of loyal diners (not to mention awards!) in the short time it has been operating.

Had a great meal with family. Some good recommendations from the staff, the meat tapas are outstanding. Apparently from their own family farm in Spain.

Food was average at this place, wine selection small but they did a good job of finding a good selection from a few areas around Spain. Some of the portion sizing was off the mark, they served a fig chocolate dessert that was very small in comparison to other dishes. Service attentive and there was a modern cosy vibe.

We had some delicious tapas and would recommend the pork cheeks were flavoursome and cooked to perfection. The chocolate pudding was amazing and too good to share. The waiting staff were very helpful and attentive.

Pleasant Spanish food in a modern themed Upper St restaurant. (So many) priced to please. Calamares, Iberico ham, gespacho. All very Spanish fair.

I love this place, the jamon is probably the best I have ever tasted.
