About Sawyer and Gray

Sawyer and Gray might look like a humble cafe on St Pauls Road in Islington but it’s actually steeped in history and heritage that’s served up alongside its carefully considered breakfast, lunches and brunches. Named after the very building it’s based in which has stood on the site since the 1940s, renovation works on the building unveiled the Sawyer and Gray logo which was designed by the same typographer who did the London Underground. Bringing things back to the present, the current cafe has crafted a thoroughly modern menu that boasts an array of coffeeshop staples done to exacting standards as well as its own singular takes on everything from filling brunch bowls to tortillas and sourdough open sandwiches.

Really great atmosphere, our food was excellent. It was easy to book a table & we actually got free dessert from the cook. The coffee is really tasty, if you want to enjoy a late Sunday brunch, that's the place to be.

A place that serves brunch past noon on weekdays!!! Had the corn fritter and the salmon toast. The food was delicious, the service friendly and helpful, and the space was clean and had cute decor. Was absolutely lovely!! Thank you!!

Really lovely food and the owners are great hosts. London’s best chai latte! The avocado and feta on sourdough is brilliant

Have gone here several times this year and food is excellent but staff consistently provide poor service, particularly when the owner managers are serving. My suggestion would be to get professional wait staff, because it has been poor so many times we have decided to go else where for our weekly brunch.
