We can fully understand why MasterChef contestant, Zaleha Kadir Olpin, who also hails from Malaysia, named Dapur the UK's best Malaysian restaurant, while declaring: "They serve delicious authentic Malaysian food in a Malaysian tiffin that’s perfectly seasoned and full of flavour."

The food here is full of depth and flavour, superbly executed, with all the love of any home cooked food. It truly is 'dapur', or 'kitchen' as its translated, cooked food.

It should be highlighted too that Dapur is only open during the weekdays between 11.30am to 3pm. It might be a good idea, therefore, to get there early to avoid the disappointment of some of the more popular dishes selling out.

Love this place. Its my go-to splash out lunch once a month. Its basically like stepping into a family kitchen and being served up great ready made great tasting food. 

Pretty much everything is good here - the beef rendang is epic - make sure you have the coconut rice with all the trimmings..  Be warned - you get a lot of food :) so make sure you have a light breakfast !

Look. The cashier was EXTREMELY NICE!!!! But guess what. The OWNER came out to help out; told me and my 3 friends (so 4 of us in total) that we MUST SQUEEZE ON ONE TABLE MEANT FOR 2. The restaurant was EMPTY - ACTUALLY 0 PEOPLE. He tried to explain to us that each of the table was meant for 3. (which is quite a squeeze) So, we explained to him that EVEN IF we squeezed 3, the other needs to sit alone ANYWAY and we would take 2 tables. He then turns around and says to the cashier who was feeling pretty awkward (with his customers right in front of him) that "these people don't understand" - no bro, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. what in the world you have no customers at that moment??? What upsets me is that this guy spends 0 effort trying to serve customers at all - it's all about HIM. We went in HAPPY and were chatting with the cashier - but left upset and feeling wronged. Hope the restaurant stays empty. Definitely not the Malaysian spirit...

As a gluttonous Malaysian, I crave home-cooked Malaysian food too often and this place offers the perfect remedy. Tucked in a quiet corner offering quaint decor and a changing menu, dapur serves up big bold flavours of home at affordable prices. Not to draw comparisons but this place is by far the most chilled of the Malaysian restaurants in London and the staff is always warm and welcoming. Big thumbs up.
