Sawyer and Gray might look like a humble cafe on St Pauls Road in Islington but it’s actually steeped in history and heritage that’s served up alongside its carefully considered breakfast, lunches and brunches.
Named after the very building it’s based in which has stood on the site since the 1940s, renovation works on the building unveiled the Sawyer and Gray logo which was designed by the same typographer who did the London Underground.
Bringing things back to the present, the current cafe has crafted a thoroughly modern menu that boasts an array of coffeeshop staples done to exacting standards as well as its own singular takes on everything from filling brunch bowls to tortillas and sourdough open sandwiches.
