The Gunmakers

I always enjoy tracking down back street pubs, and the Gunmakers is a great find.
It’s spread over three rooms, two on the ground floor and one upstairs, plus a beer garden.
I like the pop art decor, it’s not over the top, but care has gone into it. The fake foliage around the bar doesn’t quite work for me though.
There’s a good choice of drinks and the food is mainly small plates and pizzas.

Best pizza in London! This cozy little pub with a storied past has a contemporary flair to go with the old school vibe. Very friendly, welcoming staff. You must have one of their personal pizzas with your pint of lager. I recommend the pineapple and pepper. Delish!

Was a little unsure on the menu at first glance, but was very pleasantly surprised! The chicken supreme with all the Asian influences worked really well and was both pretty and full of interesting flavours! Service was good. Asked for some mayo to go with the crispy chicken skin, to which the waiter went to check with the chef. The chef made a soy based sauces she think would work better, which was highly appreciated!

Not your average pub which is why it's so great! Quirky in some ways with lots of areas to sit or stand with a friend or in a group. They have a couple of upstairs rooms as well, reached via a steep staircase ( you need good knees to get up there!). There is a room with a comfortable chesterfield and armchairs and the next level up is the Salon which is an old barbers and still has the sinks and chairs in there. I hear some talk that they are planning to make this a room for music, spoken word etc events which is a great idea. The place seems to be well run by the young managers who obviously have an eye for detail.

Nice little pub in side street. The wine was fine but no real beer, only larger.
