The Portree Hotel

Don’t give this hotel your money, you may never get it back. I am very frustrated with this hotel and will try to be disputing the transaction with my bank. I cancelled my reservation for July, well, well ahead of their cancellation policy that allots for a full refund and they are keeping my money! Won’t confirm when I will be receiving a refund or that I will be receiving it for sure. They won’t respond to further inquiries and they keep deleting my post off their FB page. They are literally telling their guests that they appreciate our understanding that they will be keeping our money at this time, instead of refunding it, so that they can pay their employees. It is so unethical! I understand that the travel industry is not in a good place right now, but neither are individuals who are having money from our pockets kept by businesses!  I will be going to Skye some other time hopefully in the next couple years, but I won’t be staying here. We are not in the business of loaning our hard-earned money for free to hotels.

Unfortunately, hotel is ignoring my emails regarding my booking. They are refusing to give me back my refund even though I have cancelled my booking more than 45 days in advance. Last email I received from them was more than 2 moths ago and after that I havent heard from them again (even though I was asking for updates regarding my refund). This is highly unprofessional behaviour. I still hope things will get sorted out and I would be able to change my review.

We just visited for lunch while on a tour of the Highlands including a venture to the Isle of Skye. We stopped at another establishment nearby but were not waited on and we were on a time constraint. We walked back to this location (first one we saw at drop off) and entered. We loved the rustic decor and when we looked at the menu and asked about gluten free options were very pleased that the Potato Leek soup was safe (homemade). We both enjoyed our selections and beverages and found the service great for our short stay in this scenic location. We would recommend this experience for others.

Was not a guest but went to the West Highland Bar for drinks and it was so much fun! The drinks were great and the staff was so nice, helpful and friendly (and funny!). The live music was a great addition to the already good atmosphere of the bar. It was also fun to meet a mix of locals and tourists there. Would definitely recommend you make a stop in there!

Good ambience . Food is lovely. There is a pay and display car park just on the side of it or you can use the free long stay car park which is down the road. We visited on a friday evening in winter. No bookings needed. They accept card payments.
